NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

ROANOKE RAPIDS AREA PLANNING BOARD

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Area Planning Board will hold a public meeting on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall at 700 Jackson Street, Roanoke Rapids to hear the following items:

Continued Consideration of Adoption of Rules of Procedure of the Roanoke Rapids Area Planning Board. In accordance with Land Use Ordinance Section 151-125, the Planning Board may develop rules and regulations governing its procedures and operations not inconsistent with the Land Use Ordinance. These rules and regulations shall be subject to review and approval by the City Council, and upon approval, shall become effective for the Planning Board.

Amendments to the Roanoke Rapids Land Use Ordinance Article X: Permissible Uses, Section 151-149 Table of Permitted Uses to examine and revise the particular land uses that are listed as either Conditional Uses “C” (authorized by City Council) or Permissible Zoning Uses “P” (authorized by the Land Use Administrator) for the Zoning Districts Industrial-1 (I-1) and Industrial-2 (I-2). The I-1 and I-2 Zoning Districts were established primarily to accommodate enterprises engaged in the manufacturing, processing, creating, repairing, renovating, painting, cleaning, or assembling of goods, merchandise, or equipment. The districts differ primarily in the permitted intensities of development and the resulting minimum dimensional requirements.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

ROANOKE RAPIDS REGIONAL BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Regional Board of Adjustment will hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall at 700 Jackson Street, Roanoke Rapids to hear the following item:

Appeal of a Decision of the Land Use Administrator in response to the issuance of a Building Permit (dated January 20, 2016) for the construction of a 60'x120' vehicle shelter intended for school activity buses. The Appeal Application alleges that the Administrator improperly or erroneously interpreted the Ordinance in authorizing a school maintenance facility in a residential zoning district.

Related information for items for both of the above meetings are available for public inspection in the Planning & Development Office at the J. Reuben Daniel City Hall, 1040 Roanoke Avenue. Any persons, firms, organizations or corporations interested in these matters are urged to attend the meetings.
