Recreation Program Supervisor

Aquatic Center (Parks & Recreation)

An employee in this position plans, coordinates and supervises Aquatic Center program activities. A successful candidate will have demonstrated management experience in the aquatics field, strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate a team, and a strong sense of safety to implement good practices.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

Graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in recreation administration, physical education or related degree and considerable experience in recreational programming preferred

Certified in American Red Cross CPR/AED

First Aid & Lifeguarding

3-years of lifeguarding experience

Must have excellent people service skills

Ability to provide service with integrity

Must have good verbal and written communication skills

Part-Time Library Assistant

Employees in this position will perform various duties at the Roanoke Rapids Public Library

Good interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills are a MUST.

This employee will work the service desk, checking in and out materials, assisting patrons in using public access computers, shelving returned library material and other duties as assigned.

Applicants must be available to work flexible schedule including days, nights and Saturdays. Approximately 10-17 hours total per week. Hours will vary.

This position will also provide service assistance at the Roanoke Canal Museum.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

Roanoke Rapids Area Planning Board

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Area Planning Board will hold a public meeting Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall at 700 Jackson Street to hear the following items:

1. A rezoning request from Gil Cunningham (applicant and representative of owner of property Carolina Dirt, LLC) to rezone 83.2773+/- acres of property at 395 Wallace Fork Road from B-4 Commercial District-Entertainment Overlay District to I-2 Industrial District. The undeveloped property is located between Wallace Fork Road and Aurelian Springs Road and has been previously used as an outdoor amphitheater/concert venue. Industrial districts are established to accommodate manufacturing, processing, creating, repairing, renovating, painting, cleaning or assembling of goods, merchandise and equipment. As a result of public input, a less intense district may be considered.

2. Discussion of an amendment to the Roanoke Rapids Land Use Ordinance, Article X: Permissible Uses, Section 151-149 Table of Permitted Uses, to change the permitting process from Conditional Uses “C” (authorized by City Council) to Permissible Zoning Uses “P” (authorized by the Land Use Administrator) for the following uses and zoning districts:

a. Land Use Code 1.111 2nd floor dwelling above commercial use; B-1 District

b. Land Use Code 9.100 Motor vehicle sales or rentals; B-1 District

c. Land Use Code 5.120 Trade or vocational school; B-1 District

d. Land Use Code 6.140 Multi-use facility providing offices, counseling related activities, and non-profit youth and/or senior citizens activities; B-1 District

e. Land Use Code 19.000 Open air markets and horticultural sales; B-1 & B-2 Districts

f. Land Use Code 5.300 Libraries, museums, art galleries, art centers and similar uses—including associated educational and instructional activities; B-1, B-2 & B-4 Districts
