Court of appeals upholds dismissal of school lawsuit

The North Carolina Court of Appeals in a 2-1 opinion has upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against the Halifax County Board of Commissioners which focused on the operation of three separate school systems.

Efird honored for rescuing nurse

North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Dustin Efird was honored today by Halifax County commissioners for actions in July which helped rescue a nurse who languished in her bath tub for three nights after taking a fall.

Halifax County commissioners today endorsed a request from Halifax Community College on how the school intends to use its $6.519 million Connect NC Bond award.

Halifax County commissioners approved a resolution today which seeks to grant a Virginia-based wood treatment company funds to upfit the former Georgia-Pacific building off West Tenth Street in Roanoke Rapids.

Halifax commissioners today directed the county manager and attorney to begin looking at electronic gaming regulations following a presentation from two residents concerned about an establishment being readied for the former Three Lakes Grocery building near Myrick Estates.
