Roanoke Rapids native Colby Warren was invited to play CPL Summer league baseball for the Wilson Tobs and crushed his first home run of the season in his first at-bat for the Tobs this past Saturday night in Wilson.

Warren garnered 2018 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year accolades after setting a Barton College freshman record for home runs in a season with 12 and paced the Bulldogs with 31 RBI and was just one of two players to play in all-48 games for Barton. Warren tallied 52 hits and seven doubles on the season to go along with a .313 batting average and held a .388 batting average, seven home runs, and 19 RBI in league play. Warren closed the regular season by hitting a home run against nationally-ranked Belmont Abbey College and a pair of home runs at home against nationally-ranked North Greenville University.

The Coastal Plain League (CPL) is a wood-bat collegiate summer league with teams across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia featuring college players recruited from throughout the nation.

The Number 34 Warren played DH Saturday night and had two hits with four at bats with one RBI and one strike-out and batting a .500. The Wilson Tobs won 9-5 over the Morehead City Marlins at Historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson.
