RRPD roundup: Bogus bill; drug arrests

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

On Friday at approximately 8:30 p.m., Officer A. Green arrested and charged Ross Andrew Norfleet, 51, of Roanoke Rapids, for possession of counterfeit United States currency.

Norfleet received a $700 bond and February 7 court date.

The charges stem from Norfleet allegedly trying to purchase items from the Sheetz on Julian Allsbrook R. Highway with a bogus $20 bill.

Officer C. Fortier assisted.

 

On Saturday at approximately 12:45 a.m., Officer C. Hagbourne arrested and charged David James Lutz, 43, of Columbus, Ohio, for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a $200 bond and January 19 court date.

The charges stem from a disturbance call at Hilton Garden Inn.

During the call Hagbourne noticed a strong odor of marijuana on the man’s clothing and found narcotics and paraphernalia during a search.

On Saturday at approximately 12:45 a.m., Green conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Thanos Drive.

James Devon Goode, 28, of Roanoke Rapids, was driving on a revoked license and allegedly in possession of marijuana.

He was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver schedule VI, possession of schedule VI and driving while license revoked.

He received a $1,000 bond and February 2 court date.

Fortier assisted.

 

On Saturday at approximately 11 a.m., Lieutenant P. Parks conducted a traffic stop in the 900 block of Roanoke Avenue for a violation.  

During the stop Officer R. Cross and his dog, Midas, conducted a sniff of the vehicle.

Midas indicated narcotics could be present in the vehicle.  

During a search, the passenger, Hunter Dale Banty, 19, of Roanoke Rapids, was allegedly found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.  

He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $1,000 bond and March 9 court date.

The driver was cited for traffic infractions and released.

On Sunday at approximately 2:20 a.m., Green conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Julian  R. Allsbrook Highway and East Tenth Street.  

The driver, John Tyler Pierce, was reportedly found in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.

Pierce was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also cited for expired registration and an inspection violation.

He received a $400 bond and January 22 court date.

Fortier assisted.

 

On Monday at approximately 1:30 a.m., Green conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Old Farm Road and Highway 158.

The driver, Edwin Solomon, 63, of Enfield, was driving on a revoked license and was allegedly in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.

Green cited Solomon for driving while license revoked, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released until his court date on January 22.

 

On Monday at 11 p.m., Hardy and Hagbourne responded to a residence in the 900 block of Cedar Street for a domestic issue.  When officers arrived they encountered Tyron Marquette Mills, 40, of Roanoke Rapids. During a search they reportedly found him in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.

Mills was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He received a February 2 court date.
