The City of Roanoke Rapids is now accepting applications for the following positions:

Part-Time Public Works Worker (RR Public Works). An employee in this position will perform skilled technical and trades work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment. Job duties include but are not limited to grass cutting, leaf collection, street sign maintenance, and other duties necessary in the Public Works Department. Must have a valid NC Driver’s License. Sanitation Worker (RR Public Works) An employee in this position works as a member of a crew led by a Sanitation Equipment Operator in loading and unloading refuse over an established route. Applicant must have a valid NC Driver’s License. (Open until filled)

Firefighter Applicant Pool (RR Fire Department) Applications are being accepted to establish an eligibility list (Applicant Pool) from which periodic selections will be made as positions become available.

Qualifications:

►High School Diploma (GED)
►Preferred NC Firefighter II
►Must be able to obtain a North Carolina or Virginia Class B Driver’s License within 90 days of employment

►Must be of good character, be in good physical condition and pass a drug test

Police Officer (Roanoke Rapids Police Department): An employee in this class performs a full range of general law enforcement duties to protect life and property in the City. NOTICE OF MEETING

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Planning Board will hold a public meeting Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall located at 700 Jackson Street to participate in a training session on the administrative responsibilities of the Planning Board.

Related information is available for public inspection in the Planning and Development office at the J. Reuben Daniel City Hall, 1040 Roanoke Avenue. Any persons, firms, organizations or corporations interested in this matter are urged to attend the meeting.
