HCSO roundup: Beer theft; cocaine arrest

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following:

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying an individual and car in the accompanying photo gallery.


Detective B.R. Nutt reported on December 17 at approximately 4:46 a.m. a man entered Travel World on Highway 903 in the Halifax area and left with a case of Corona beer.
His direction of travel after exiting the store was not immediately known. The vehicle in question appears to be a gold color.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8201; Nutt at 252-593-1020 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

Cocaine arrest

Chief Deputy Scott reported on December 31 Corporal John Bozard was on patrol in the Glenview area when he stopped a vehicle near Fishing Creek Road and encountered the driver, Shawn Stallings, 18, of Enfield.
Bozard deployed his dog, Fino, which alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Bozard searched the vehicle and located a small bag of cocaine.
Stallings was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Stallings has a January 18 court date pending.
Deputy Mo Zughbi assisted.
