Captain Tommy Parker of the Scotland Neck Police Department said this morning 90 percent of the calls to the residence on Chestnut Street have been disturbance calls and there have been previous reports of violence there, including shots fired and fights.
The call Friday, Parker said in a statement, was around 5 p.m. after a family member placed a frantic 911 call reporting a stabbing.
Officer C. Littleton arrived and discovered Lonnie Alston, 62, stabbed his son, Lontrell Alston, 28, who in turn stabbed his father.
The son lives next door to the father, Parker said.

The elder Alston sustained a stab wound to the chest and was rushed to Our Community Hospital and then flown by EastCare to Vidant in Greenville. He is in serious condition but is expected to recover, Parker said.

The younger Alston sustained a stab wound to the stomach and was treated and released from Vidant Edgecombe in Tarboro.
Little, after a brief struggle, detained the younger Alston and then provided emergency medical care to the father, Parker said in the statement.
Little determined both father and son would be charged, charging the elder Alston with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and the son the same with an added charge of resisting a public officer.
The younger Alston was transported to the Halifax County jail after his hospital release and received a $5,000 secured bond.
Parker said in the statement both father and son were reportedly “highly intoxicated,” which resulted in the fight.
Further charges may be filed.
