A Richmond, Virginia, man died Monday night in a single-vehicle crash on Whitehead Road in the Halifax area.

The death of Clinton Lee Pitt, 52, occurred as he was driving northwest on Whitehead Road and failed to maintain lane control in a slightly curved portion of the roadway, according to an initial report by Trooper S.R. Corn of the state Highway Patrol.
The report notes he was also traveling over the speed limit and veered off the road to the right, which caused the vehicle he was driving to overturn shortly after 10:30 p.m.
Pitt was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The initial report indicates he was not wearing a seat belt.
The fatal crash occurred as the Highway Patrol is into its third week of Booze It and Lose It enforcement, said Sergeant E.D. Lemons.
Troopers will continue the enforcement program this week and into the weekend looking for aggressive driving, use of seat belts and impaired driving, he said.
