RRPD blotter: December 5-11, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday December 5, 2016

• Shaqueea Shonta Richardson, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged around 4:30 p.m. for simple assault.
She received a $1,000 bond and January 20 court date.
Officer C. Fortier responded to a report of an assault in the zero-hundred block of Washington Street.
During the investigation Fortier learned there was a dispute over a Facebook post and several people went to the victim’s residence and an altercation which led to a physical assault took place.
A 13-year-old juvenile was detained and released to a parent.
Juvenile petitions will be obtained for simple assault.
The investigation is still ongoing and more charges are expected.
Lieutenant J. Baggett, Sergeant M. Moseley and Master Officer A. Salmon assisted.

Tuesday December 6, 2016

• Richard Day Jr., 61, of Margarettsville, was arrested and charged around 3:30 p.m. with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Day received a $500 bond and January 6 court date.
Officer A. Green responded to Walmart about a larceny.
Loss prevention reported Day allegedly took items.

Wednesday December 7, 2016

• Isaiah Jacques Sherrod, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 9 a.m. with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He was released on a written promise to appear until his January 6 court date.

• Alessio Helaire Edmonds, 20, of Halifax, was arrested and charged at approximately 9 a.m. with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He was released on a written promise to appear until his January 6 court date.
Green responded to Walmart about a larceny.
Loss prevention reported Sherrod and Edmonds allegedly took items.
Baggett, Investigator F. Griffin and Salmon assisted.

• William Chadwick Harris, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at approximately 5:30 p.m. with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $500 bond and February 17 court date.
Officer J. Mason responded to Sheetz about a larceny.
Store staff reported Harris allegedly took items.
Investigator C. Babb and Green assisted.

• Tremaine Jernell Newsome, 17, of Margarettsville, was arrested and charged at approximately 7 p.m. for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $500 bond and December 16 court date.

• Kayla Schaeling Flythe, 18, of Margarettsville, was arrested and charged at approximately 7 p.m. for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She received a $500 bond and December 16 court date.
Officer H. Grimes responded to Walmart about a larceny.
Loss prevention reported Newsome and Flythe allegedly took items.
Lieutenant P. Parks and Officer G. Colson assisted.

• Elizabeth Anne Williams, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged approximately 11 p.m. for disorderly conduct.
She received a $300 bond and December 30 court date.
Master Officer R. Ball responded to a call of an unresponsive person at Fairfax Motel.
While officers and EMS were trying to assist the person, Williams became disruptive and began cursing.
Colson and Officer S. Blythe assisted.

Thursday December 8, 2016

• Joshua Dushey Vaughan, 32, of Emporia, was arrested and charged at approximately 1:15 p.m. for violation of a domestic protective order, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He was held without opportunity for bond and received a February 17 court date.
Moseley and Salmon responded to Windchase Apartments about a trespasser.
Officers were informed Vaughan had a protective order in place against him and he was taken into custody.
During a search after he was arrested, officers found narcotics, paraphernalia and knife in his possession.

• James Harold Ellis, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense, larceny and possession of stolen goods.
He received a $500 bond and February 17 court date.
Mason responded to Walmart about a larceny of a pocketbook left in a shopping cart.
With assistance of Walmart loss prevention, he identified Ellis as the person who had the pocketbook.
During the investigation Mason and loss prevention learned Ellis attempted to return a coffee maker he did not purchase.


Friday December 9, 2016

• Tamera Mona Anderson, 19, of Weldon, was arrested and charged at approximately 1:30 a.m. for possession of cocaine, consume alcohol by a person 19-20 and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.
She received a $20,000 bond and January 11 court date.
Sergeant D. Jenkins was conducting an investigation of suspicious activity on Tenth Street when two people ran from him.
Ball located Anderson and she was found in possession of narcotics.
Parks, Grimes and Blythe assisted

• Daquan Lamont Harris, 19, of Weldon, was arrested and charged at approximately 2:15 a.m. with driving while impaired and possession of marijuana.
He received a written promise to appear for his February 13 court date.
Grimes conducted a traffic stop for a violation on Park Avenue near Tenth Street and determined he was impaired. Officers found him in possession of narcotics.
Parks assisted.

• Jerel Alexander Cureton, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, was arrested and charged at 2:30 p.m. with larceny, possession of stolen goods, conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He received a $5,000 bond and January 18 court date.
The charges stem from a case investigated by Babb after a store’s loss prevention reported on November 24 several people entered and took several items.
Master Officer J. Benthall located Cureton at his residence and took him into custody.

Sunday December 11, 2017

• Kirklin Jones Gandy, 21, of Littleton, was cited at approximately 5:30 p.m. for shoplifting.
He was released until his January 6 court date.
Benthall responded to Walmart about a larceny.
Loss prevention told Sergeant T. Tyler Gandy allegedly concealed items while inside the store.

• Tashawn Limarthy Harvey, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was cited at approximately 9 p.m. for driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was released until his February 27 court date.
Officer R. Cross conducted a traffic stop on Highway 125 for a violation.
He discovered Harvey’s license was revoked and he was in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sergeant M. Peck, Master Officer G. Morris and Officer J. Spragins assisted.
