The Roanoke Rapids Police Department and its Citizens on Patrol will have two weekend events — one Friday and one Saturday.

On Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the police department and COP will have a fish plate sale at ProBuild to help fund the annual Christmas for Kids shopping event, Deputy Chief Andy Jackson said recently.
Tickets are $8 for a meal consisting of fish, slaw, potatoes and hushpuppies prepared by DIRT Ministries.
Delivery is available. For more information or to purchase tickets call Tina May at 252-533-2814 or 252-532-5827. You may also contact Jackson at 252-326-3938.

Food drive

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the police department and COP are sponsoring a food drive for North Carolina victims of Hurricane Matthew.
The goal is to fill a tractor-trailer, which will be at Lowe’s Home Improvement, with non-perishable food items, Jackson said.
The American Red Cross will distribute the food. The COP will have a tent at Lowe’s where the food can be dropped off. “We want to help our fellow citizens in a time of need,” Jackson said.
