Wesley Blanding has an August 18 court date in Edgecombe County and an August 16 court date in Nash on heroin trafficking counts, according to state court records.
Deputy Chief Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. Sergeant S.N. Casey observed Blanding in the passenger seat of a vehicle on Main Street in Scotland Neck.
Hall said in the statement Casey knew Blanding had outstanding warrants from Edgecombe and Nash.
Casey stopped the vehicle and placed Blanding under arrest for the warrants.

He was jailed on $60,000 secured bond and has an August 31 court date.
No further information beyond the statement was immediately available this afternoon.

In a matter unrelated to Blanding’s arrest, Hall reported Detective Brittany Nutt today charged Jonathan Cavanaugh, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, after he was arrested for felony larceny, two counts of possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.
The victim’s stolen property was recovered by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department during a traffic stop in July.
Cavanaugh jailed a $15,000 secured bond with a court date of August 24.
