Roanoke Rapids police blotter: June 27-30, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday June 27, 2016
At approximately 1 p.m., Officer Jamie Hardy responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported Joseph Richardson, 50, of Roanoke Rapids took items.
Hardy located Richardson leaving Walmart. He cited him for larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Richardson was released until his July 15 court date.
Sergeant Daniel Jenkins assisted.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., Officer Scott Blythe responded to a larceny call at Food Lion on Roanoke Avenue.
Loss prevention reported Corey Tyrell Freeman, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, a store employee, was voiding items so the customer did not have to pay. He was also not scanning items and letting the customer have them.
These instances occurred in May and June. Blythe arrested and charged Freeman with four counts of embezzlement. He received a $4,000 bond and July 13 court date.
Tuesday June 28, 2016
At approximately 9:45 a.m., Hardy responded to a report of drug activity in the 200 block of Summit Avenue.
During the investigation, Hardy spoke with Jesse Jamar Arrington, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, and found him in possession of narcotics and paraphernalia.
Hardy arrested and charged Arrington with possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a $2,500 bond and August 12 court date.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., Hardy responded to a larceny call at Belk.
Loss Prevention reported Jaquane Lamar Miles, 17, of Garysburg, took items.
Hardy cited Miles for larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was released until his September 9 court date.
Wednesday June 29, 2016
At approximately 1:15 p.m., Lieutenant Perry Parks conducted a traffic stop for a violation on West Chaloner Drive.
During the stop, the driver, Tyrone Jermaine Newell, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, threw an item out the window.
Parks detained Newell until the thrown item, which was discovered to be cocaine, was recovered.
Parks arrested and charged Newell with possession of schedule II, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a vehicle, no operator’s license, expired registration and expired inspection.
He received a $5,000 bond and August 17 court date.
Jenkins, Master Officer Roy Ball and Hardy assisted.
Thursday June 30, 2016
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Officer Chris Biggerstaff responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss Prevention reported Tyrees Nathaniel Williams, 16, of Weldon, and two juveniles took items.
Officer Jason Williams located Tyrees Williams and the juveniles leaving Walmart.
Biggerstaff arrested and charged Tyrees Williams with larceny, possession of stolen goods and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer for giving a false name.
He received a $750 bond and July 22 court date.
The juveniles were released to their parents and petitions will be sought in juvenile court.
Master Officer Jonathan Benthall assisted.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Hardy responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention told Halifax Central a person, later identified by Investigator Chris Babb as Katlin Murray Rideout, 25, of Brooklyn, took items and was leaving on a vehicle.
Babb located the vehicle on Medical Center Drive. Hardy arrested and charged her with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She received a $1,000 bond and July 8 court date.
Ball assisted.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the police department received a call about a larceny at Rose’s.
Store staff reported a person, later identified as Wytina Shavonne Lashley, 41, of Roanoke Rapids, took items. She was leaving on a vehicle which Trooper Jamie Warren, of the state Highway Patrol, stopped on Highway 125 near Quiet Circle.
Parks arrested and charged Lashley with larceny and possession of stolen goods.
She received a $1,000 bond and August 9 court date.
Officer Greg Colson assisted.
