Arrests in the Operation Fireball drug sting continued this week.

City County Drug Task Force agents made two arrests, one Monday and one today.

Both men have been on the radar of investigators in the past, task force Captain A.M. Harris said this afternoon.

On Monday shortly before 8 a.m., agents, along with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team and the patrol division of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department went to the 1200 block of Jefferson Street.

There they served an arrest warrant to James “Baby J” Harvey for possession of marijuana paraphernalia, Harris said in a statement.

The search warrant served was based on citizen complaints and investigation by Harris. Agents located a marijuana grinder during a search of the residence.

Harvey, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, surrendered to the sheriff's office Wednesday where he was served Operation Fireball warrants for maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and two counts each of possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell cocaine and deliver cocaine.

He received a $4,000 bond and August 24 court date.

During Operation Fireball, Harris said Harvey reportedly sold cocaine to an individual working in an undercover capacity from the Carolina Inn as well as his residence on Jefferson Street.

Harris said the Operation Fireball arrest, for which Johnson received a $40,000 bond, was based on an undercover operation in the Deer Run Drive area of Roanoke Rapids.

Johnson has an August 24 court date.
