Halifax Academy Lady Vikings softball team opened their season at home Tuesday shutting out Rocky Mount Academy.

The Lady Vikings got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Karson Ricks doubled, Payton Odom grounded out, Emerson Boerner single, and Rocky Mount committed an error, each scoring one run.

Halifax added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Teagan Hamill grounded out, and Odom singled, each scoring one run.

Halifax scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Scarlett Harr grounded out, scoring one run, am error scored one run, Addison Davis singled, scoring one run and an error scored two runs.

Harris earned the win for Halifax, the right hander gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.

Halifax piled up 13 hits in the game. Emma Inscoe went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead Halifax in hits. Hamill drove the middle of the lineup, leading Halifax with three runs batted in. the infielder went 2 for 4. Summer True and Ricks each collected multiple hits.  Inscoe and Harris each stole multiple bases for Halifax, The Vikings stole five bases in the game. The Vikings didn't commit single error.
