Further charges are possible in an embezzlement case involving a Roanoke Rapids woman, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Detective W.C. Murphy Jr. said in a statement Tamatha Lynn Brickell, 43, was arrested on May 27 and charged with embezzlement by employee from Able Home Health Care.

Murphy said Brickell, who was in charge of payroll at the company, reportedly paid herself more than she should. The total amount was $12,365.56 and the embezzlement occurred from January to November of last year.

The crime was discovered through an in-house audit, Murphy said.

Brickell was arrested at the business and has a June 17 court date.
