RRPD blotter: June 8-11

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

June 8

Around 8 p.m., Master Officer Gorton Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told him Linda Jean Gray had allegedly taken items from the store without paying for them.

Williams arrested and charged Gray with larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

During the investigation the officer discovered Gray had numerous orders for arrest from Halifax and Northampton counties.

There were three orders for arrest from Northampton County for shoplifting, speeding and no operators license and three from Halifax County for larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

Gray was given a $7,650 bond and a July 25 court date.

June 10

Around 10:51 a.m., Officer Jonathan Benthall responded to a larceny call at Just Save on East Tenth Street.

After speaking with store staff, Benthall arrested and charged Oswell Morris Mills, 63, of Roanoke Rapids with larceny.

Mills was given a $500 bond and a July 24 court date.

Sergeant Terrence Tyler assisted.

Around 7 p.m., Master Officer Gerald Morris responded to a call at the Sleep Inn about a person being threatened.

During the investigation Morris located Shankeyia Johnson 31, of Garysburg, in the parking lot and located drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Johnson was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released until her court date on August 8.

June 11

Around 1 a.m., officers Patrick Smith and Ryan Cross responded to a domestic call in the 500 block of Jewel Street.

After speaking with the victim and noticing injuries to the face, Smith arrested Bernard Lynn Harris, 54, of Roanoke Rapids, for assault on a female.

During the arrest and processing, Harris made threats to the officer, refused to get in the patrol car and refused to cooperate during booking.

Harris was charged with communicating a threat and resisting,delaying,and obstructing an officer.

Harris was jailed without the opportunity for bond and given an August 8 court date.

Around 11p.m., Morris was on routine patrol checking local businesses when he located a running vehicle in the parking lot.

Morris found the occupants were asleep in the vehicle.

He spoke with Alex Michael Mills, 24, of Elm City, and during the check found drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Mills was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released until his court date on August 8.
