A man wanted in a February botched robbery attempt in Weldon was captured last week by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Chief Chuck Hasty reported in his routine blotter update that Kwame Robinson, 18, of Littleton, was arrested Friday around 6:30 p.m. by Officer Jamie Hardy.

Hardy spotted Robinson in the area of Georgia Avenue and Vine Street.

Robinson attempted to hide in the woods but was located and arrested.

Robinson not only had outstanding orders for arrest in the botched robbery attempt, but orders for arrest for a motorcycle theft that occurred in Garysburg.

He faces the following charges based on the orders for arrest:

Breaking and entering, two counts of motor vehicle theft, another count of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Robinson was given a $260,950 bond and a June 3 court date.

Lieutenant Charles Burnette, Master Officers Roy Ball and Mark Peck and Officers Linda Baker and Scott Blythe assisted.

A total of three people have now been arrested in the robbery attempt.
