The Northampton County Sheriff's Office reported the following:

On December 2 around 8 p.m., Deputy A.B. “Bobo” Roye responded to River Road in Henrico on a disturbance call between two parties.

Lieutenant Bo Deloatch said on a statement the victim told Roye that he was visiting the residence when Billy Joe Squire, 48, of Henrico, came to the residence and an argument started.

The argument became physical and Squire allegedly assaulted the victim by striking him with a shotgun.

Squire reportedly damaged the victim’s vehicle by ramming into it while the victim was trying to leave. The victim sustained injuries to his face and body and was transported by EMS to Halifax Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Investigator Patrick Jacobs arrested and charged Squire with assault inflicting serious injury. He was given a $10,000 bond.

Deloatch and Sergeant Jimmy Pair assisted in the investigation.

On December 3 at 3:30 p.m, Officer Marcel Goffington of the Garysburg Police Department responded to Lowe's Court in Garysburg on an assault call.

Goffington secured the crime scene for Deputy Ikeisha Jacobs, who spoke with the victim about the matter but reportedly did not cooperate with the investigation.

Jacobs turned the investigation over to Deloatch.

During the investigation it was determined the matter took place and determined who was involved. Deloatch arrested and charged Monique D. Britt ,36, of Gumberry with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer.

Britt allegedly slashed the victim in the face with a pocketknife, Deloatch said.

She was given a $10,500 bond.

Sergeant Jonathan Jenkins, deputies William James and Curtis Boone, along with Garysburg Officer Tommy Staton, also assisted in the investigation.

“These types of incidents law enforcement handle on a daily basis. As people we need to try to work out our differences without resorting to violence against each other,” Sheriff Jack Smith said in a statement. “In the long-run nobody wins when we assault each other when we disagree over something.”
