A warehouse fire at Reser's Fine Foods this morning caused no structural damage but some products and property received smoke and water damage.

Halifax Fire Chief Ed Johnson said firefighters responded to an alarm call at Reser's on Highway 903 around 12:45 a.m.

Firefighters observed heavy smoke and the sprinkler system was activated.

Approximately 30 firefighters from Halifax, Weldon and Darlington responded and battled the fire for about an hour before it could be extinguished. They put out hotspots for an additional hour, Johnson said.

The fire was contained to a warehouse where pallets of product were stored for use.

Preliminary investigation shows a light ballast above the pallets may have been the cause.

Firefighters remained on the scene until approximately 5 a.m.
