The Northampton County Sheriff's Office continues to investigation a purported home invasion where the victim was shot Monday night.

The victim was listed in fair condition, Captain Chuck Hasty said this afternoon.

Just before 9 p.m. the sheriff's office responded to Avent Lane in Garysburg.

Lieutenant Jason Boone and Deputy Jeff Allen found the victim lying on the ground with gunshot wounds.

The victim was initially transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to a trauma center.

Lieutenant Bo Deloatch's investigation determined the victim's residence appeared to be ransacked but it is unclear if anything was taken.

Thus far there are no suspect or vehicle descriptions.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-534-2611.
