A Garysburg man was arrested Wednesday night on crack cocaine charges and also served warrants issued by the Northampton County Sheriff's Office.

The arrest of Trevor Mykel Phillips, 24, came following a traffic stop by Weldon Police Officer Noland Coles shortly before 8:30 p.m., according to an arrest report by the department.

The vehicle was stopped for fictitious tags, the report said, and during the investigation Phillips was reportedly found to be in possession of crack cocaine.

Coles charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II. He was also served Northampton County warrants for probation violation, breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female and communicating threats.

He was jailed on $6,000 bond and assigned a September 3 court date in Halifax.

Full details on the Northampton County charges were not immediately available.
