Roanoke Rapids softball wins in extra inning

Sierra Hearp was a key role for the Jackets on the mound and at the plate.

 

Roanoke Rapids won the conference match up against Warren County 4-3 in 8 innings at Home Thursday night.

Roanoke Rapids and Warren County were tied after 7 innings and Hearps double in the bottom of the 8th set the Jackets up in scoring position. Then Brooke McClenny came to bat and shot a nice hit to left field sending base runner Erica Whitmire in to home easily for the win for the  Jackets.

Hearp pitched the complete 8 innings allowing 4 walks, 3 hits, 3 runs and had 12 strike-outs.

 

Hayley Farrow's single bunt turned to a triple bases.

At the plate for the Jackets, off of five hits, Hearp lead with a single and a double, Brooke McClenny with a single, Brooke Vincent with a double and Hayley Farrow with a single bunt that turned into a triple with Warren County errors.

 

3rd baseman Jordan Carpenter slammed into by a base runner.

The Jackets are now 12-2 overall and 6-2 in NCC play sitting is third place.
