Myrtle Beach SC based Silver Dragon Racing (SDR) hosted it's first of four free style drifting events at North Carolina Center for Automotive Research (NCCAR) Saturday even with the rain.
Organizer Shauna Argento was very pleased with the turnout due to the weather. " I am impressed with all the locals who ventured out in the rain to see what drifting is all about and several even enjoyed a ride along," said Argento. "We have three more dates set so we are hoping the weather is better," she added.
Spectator cars and trucks were lined up in the pit area facing the track, so that you could sit in your vehicle and watch the drifters and keep dry. There were several spectators who withstood the weather and walked around and watched and chatted with drivers and crew. The atmosphere seems to be all about drifting and friendship no mater who you are or where you are from, everyone become friends before you leave.
So if you chose not to come because you saw the rain and thought it was canceled or had other things scheduled, make plans for June 14th to see some sideways sliding and tire rubber burning drifting.
