Hawkins, according to Detective Obert Wiltsie of the sheriff's office was arrested around 1:15 p.m. after it was learned he was at a residence in the Lincoln Heights community.
He faces charges from both agencies, Wiltsie said in a statement.
Roanoke Rapids has charged him with common law robbery, possession of stolen goods and assault inflicting serious injury in a matter that occurred on December 29.
The sheriff's office meanwhile has charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill in a matter that occurred on January 5.
Deputies S. Page and T. Allen responded to the Lincoln Heights community after law enforcement learned he was at an undisclosed residence in the area, Wiltsie said in the statement. He was taken into custody with no trouble and received a $60,000 bond.
He has an April 2 court date for the Roanoke Rapids charges and an April 23 court date for the county charges.
Detective Bobby Martin of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department credited the cooperative effort and the public assistance in helping authorities locate Hawkins. “I think it was a good effort. He's been involved in episodes in the city and the county. It's a good thing he was picked up so we can bring it to trial and so hopefully there will be no further incidents of violence by him.”
