Valley Cheer, in its 8th season of competition cheering, recently ended its season at Myrtle Beach SC in the American Superstarz National Finals against big name gyms from all over the United States.

The competition is a 2 day event with scores counting 25% on Saturday and 75% on Sunday. Both the JR1 Transformers and JR3 HEAT had flawless routines on Sunday and earned a spot on stage earning medals.

The Transformers is a team of mostly first year cheerleaders ages 7-14 who have worked extremely hard learning all of the skills to earn them bragging rights all year long including 2nd place at Nationals by only 3/10th of a point away from 1st place. “That is a HUGE accomplishment” states coach Jessica White, “we are so proud of the dedication this team has had all year to learning all of the basics as well as perfecting a routine and earning new tumbling skills, we are very proud of these girls including the few long time cheerleaders that helped lead the way on the team.” Congratulations to Vally our Silver Medalists, Transformers,” she added.

JR3 HEAT is a team that consists of girls that have been cheering together for years, they are a great representation of what can happen when a team sticks together. In a very close division 1 point separated 3rd place from 1st place and our HEAT brought home bronze medals. Valley Cheer is so excited for this team, they have grown together and they hope their dedication keeps them together and leads them to the gold.

The Mighty Mini’s earned 2nd place bringing home a silver medal. The week of nationals this team had a member decide not to cheer any longer leaving them with a long week of changing the routine they have been working on all season and putting in a last minute replacement. Having a group of girls ages 7 and under come through with all of the changes and earn a silver medal is a great accomplishment, these are some of the hardest working girls in the gym and they are so proud of them. The name Mighty Mini’s is appropriate for this group of girls.

Valley Cheer's tiniest team, the Valley Cheer Tiny Angels, earned a 2nd place medal. The youth2 Superheroes placed 5th in their division, SR2 placed 7th and SR3 placed 6th overall. Heather Merritt, owner and head coach at Valley Cheer couldn’t be more proud of all of the teams and the gym as a whole. “I am so proud of these teams and the improvement I have seen this year. We competed with the big name gyms and stayed right there with them. I see our program as a whole growing every year and I am looking forward to tryouts in May”.

Valley Cheer will hold tryouts May 19-21st. Visit our website www.rvdanceandcheer.com or call 252-537-3071 for more information. Whether you are a first time cheerleader or a veteran we have a place for you.
