Coming off his successful Motown Revue, Robert Smoot is bringing the blues to Roanoke Rapids for Father’s Day weekend.

Of the Motown Revue, Smoot said in a recent interview, “It was wonderful. I believe the crowd loved it. There were standing ovations. We enjoyed the diversity of it and just the band itself. I think the city enjoyed it.”
The blues show will be June 17 at the Roanoke Rapids Theatre.
Tickets are available at this link.
The blues show, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark.
Clark has performed and recorded with some of the best local and national blues acts.
He began playing drums at 5, and by the time he was 12, started listening to the blues greats — musicians like Little Walter, Big Walter Horton, Paul Butterfield, and Sonny Boy Williamson.
The band has played up and down the east coast, from Pennsylvania to Tennessee. His CD RAW has been featured on many college, and Internet radio stations. The music is a blistering mix of contemporary blues with a funk edge.
Smoot is a blues fan and through his BRENCORE Entertainment has done a tribute show with his all-star band in D.C. “It went over well,” he said. “It brings a diverse show and can bring a diverse audience. When you listen to the blues it can touch your soul. When you make a song and make it bluesy it can be intimate as well.”
Smoot believes the show will be successful. “If you enjoyed A Tribute to the Music of Motown, you will love A Night of Blues.”
