“We’ve been getting complaints of activity on Church Street,” task force Captain A.M. Harris said this evening.
Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said the complaints coming from Church Street describe the residential area off Highway 158 as an open-air market which goes 24-7. “You get what you want,” he said.
“The task force and the police department will continue to focus efforts on there,” Hasty said. “It’s a coordinated effort between the patrol and task force on following up on complaints. We want to show our cooperation and dedication in working together to curb the trade.”
Since a heroin arrest Tuesday, 11 people have been cited or charged and nearly a pound of marijuana has been seized, Harris said.

Enfield

Shortly before 7 this morning, agents and the patrol division of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant in the 10000 block area of Ringwood Road.
Harris conducted the investigation based on citizen complaints.
During the search of the residence, with the assistance of sheriff’s office Corporal P. Moyer and his dog Bosco, marijuana was located.
Harris cited James Earl Brown, 36, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possessing marijuana up to one-half ounce. Brown has a July 26 court date.

Woodlawn Street, Roanoke Rapids

Before noon, agents arrived at the 1100 block of Woodlawn Street to serve a search warrant based on an investigation by Agent D.W. McKeel.
With assistance from Roanoke Rapids Officer C.R. Cross and his dog Midas, marijuana was located.
McKeel cited Mary Ann Crowder, 32, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possessing marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has a June 21 court date.

First Church Street warrant

Shortly after 1 p.m., agents, patrol officers and investigators from the police department and sheriff’s office executed two search warrants in the 1900 block of Church Street.
The warrants were based on investigations by agents D.R. Radford and McKeel.
At the first search warrant, with assistance of Cross and his dog, agents located approximately 287 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia. The paraphernalia consisted of two digital scales, a marijuana grinder and two packs of White Owl cigars.

McKeel cited Deangelo Maurice Davis, 39, and Shelley Marie Thomas, 36, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.
Davis and Thomas received June 21 court dates.

McKeel also arrested and charged the following:

Alexis Quantavis Thomas, 21, for felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Thomas received a $20,000 bond with a June 21 court date and was also served an outstanding warrant for arrest for injury to personal property.

Collie Davis, 25, for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possess marijuana from one-half up to one and one-half ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Davis attempted to leave the residence and was in possession of approximately 27.5 grams of marijuana and a digital scale.
He received a $20,000 bond and June 21 court date.

Sheriff’s office Investigator B.C. Griffin charged Tremaine D. Simmons, 21, with resisting a public officer and disorderly conduct.
Harris said Simmons would not comply with verbal commands and was pulling away from deputies.
He received a $750 bond and May 17 court date.

Second Church Street warrant

Agents seized approximately 81 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Radford cited Shanquel Dequn Watson, 23, and Charles Otis Thomas, 36, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Watson and Thomas received June 21 court dates.

Radford arrested and charged Tyquan Moody, 23, with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed gun.
He received a $15,000 bond and June 21 court date.

Tuesday heroin arrest

Shortly after noon, McKeel and Radford were in the South Rosemary area conducting a follow-up.
They encountered Jerod Arthur Boone, 28, of Church Street, at a store located in the area of Highway 158 and Roanoke Avenue.
When Boone noticed the agents, he put heroin in a trashcan but it was recovered.
Boone was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin and felony possession of heroin.
He received a $5,000 bond and June 21 court date.
