Sheriff Jack Smith declined comment on whether investigators believe Shawte Williams, 24, was shot at the location where her body was found or shot elsewhere.
He also declined comment on how many times she was shot and the type of weapon used.
Captain Patrick Jacobs of the sheriff’s office said in a statement the Garysburg woman was discovered shortly before 6 a.m. “Upon investigation it was determined that the female’s death was the result of foul play involving multiple gunshot wounds to the body,” he said in the statement.
Smith said in the statement, “We would like for anyone with information to please contact the sheriff’s office regardless of how minor they may feel their information is. Please call no matter where they may have seen her.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-534-2611; Crimestoppers at 252-534-1110 or the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation at 919-662-4500.
“Anyone with information in regards to the last time she was seen or talked to within the past five days is also encouraged to call with information,” Jacobs said in the statement.
