HCSO, task force roundup

The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and City County Drug Task Force reported the following recent drug arrests:


Sheriff’s office

On March 17 around 9 am, Deputy T. Vesce assisted Trooper D.P. Efird with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol on a traffic stop at Interstate 95 near the 170 mile marker for a speeding violation.
Efird stopped Anthony Christian Pelletier, 23, of Bradenton, Florida, and reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
Vesce located 59 grams of marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia from within the vehicle.
Vesce arrested Pelletier and charged him with felony possession of marijuana, maintain vehicle for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pelletier received an April 5 court date.

Task force

Agents of the City County Drug Task Force continue to follow-up on drug complaints throughout the county.
Captain A.M. Harris said agents encourage citizens to report all drug activity to Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or log onto www.halifaxsheriff.com

On March 14 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Captain Harris received information from Lieutenant George Evans of the sheriff’s office about possible marijuana sales at a residence in the Five Points Mobile Home Park area.
Harris went to the area and identified the suspected residence.
Jessde Harris, 28, of Five Points Mobile Home Park, turned over marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia to Captain Harris.
Captain Harris cited Jessde Harris with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Jessde Harris has an April 5 court date.
Deputy J. Barriger also assisted.

On March 8 agents received anonymous drug information through the sheriff’s office website and began investigating the complaint in the James Court area of Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park.
An undercover agent reportedly purchased marijuana from a man in the James Court area.
With the assistance of Lieutenant Evans and Agent D.J. Hundley, Harris identified the alleged suspect to be 43-year-old Kelly Evans.
On March 15 Harris obtained a warrant for the arrest of Kelly Evans for possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana, sell marijuana and deliver marijuana.

The following day around 4 p.m. agents conducted a buy-bust operation on Kelly Evans on James Court where he reportedly sold marijuana to the undercover agent and was arrested soon after.
During the arrest he resisted by not following verbal commands of the agents and pulling away.
He was charged with additional counts of possession with the intent to sell/deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, deliver marijuana and resisting a public officer.
All warrants were served in Halifax. Kelly Evans has an April 5 court date.
