Captain A.M. Harris of the City County Drug Task Force said in a statement agents D.R. Radford, D.W. McKeel and C.A. Parker stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Walnut Street in Roanoke Rapids just before 12:45 p.m.
The agents knew the driver, James Randall Todd Davis, had outstanding warrants from Northampton County for shoplifting-concealment of goods.
During the arrest agents seized what Harris described as a user amount of cocaine and syringes from Davis, 25.
Radford arrested and charged Davis with felony possession of cocaine; maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a $5,000 bond for the task force charges and an April 5 court date and a $500 bond for the Northampton County warrant. His Northampton court date was not immediately known.
Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the shoplifting case, which occurred December 15 at Pilot Travel Center where Davis reportedly concealed four pocket knives.
Roanoke Rapids Police Department Master Officer Gerald Morris and his dog Champ assisted in the stop.
