Trooper J.T. Keeter of the state Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. between Severn and Pendleton.
The 18-year-old, Lindsey Netro, who died in the crash, was a front seat passenger in a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Justina Pablo of Severn.
Pablo ran off the road, overcorrected and the vehicle flipped several times, Keeter said.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts. Pablo was treated and released.
Keeter attributed the crash to driver error and the cause remains under investigation.
A determination of whether charges will be filed against the driver is pending the completion of the investigation.
