A Roanoke Rapids man already scheduled for a February 28 court appearance was charged Thursday on marijuana counts.

Brandon Elliot Medlin, 39, was charged by the City County Drug Task Force with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
The service of the arrest warrant Thursday came after Roanoke Rapids officers went to his residence in the 600 block of Monroe Street Wednesday and could smell the odor of marijuana from inside, a task force statement released late Friday night through the police department said.
Agent D.J. Hundley applied for the search warrant and Master Officer A. Salmon and Officer H. Grimes assisted in its execution along with task force members.
The officers seized 43 grams of marijuana, two rifles, a shotgun and several items of drug paraphernalia.
Medlin was served with the warrants and received a $25,000 bond and March 1 court date.
State court records show he his already scheduled to appear in court February 28 for communicating threats and assault on a female.
