A local man was shot in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express late Monday night.

Roanoke Rapids Police Department Deputy Chief Andy Jackson declined to name the 32-year-old victim, who was reported to be in stable condition. He did confirm the man was local.
He also declined to speculate on possible motive, saying, “Detective Gorton Williams and Detective Chris Babb are working around the clock,” on the case.
Police responded to the hotel located at Premier Boulevard shortly before midnight, Jackson said in a statement.
Jackson did say this morning the victim was found outside his vehicle. Thus far there are no descriptions of possible suspects.
The victim was transported to a medical facility.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
