Enfield Police Chief Tyree Davis said this evening his department has already been in contact with federal authorities about Airic Troune Whitaker, who in 2010 received a 15-month sentence and three years of supervised release following a plea deal with the government.
His co-defendant, Antonio Lanardo Mitchell, received a 102-month sentence, according to federal court records.
Both were indicted in 2009 on six counts related to marijuana sales.
Davis said feds were notified about Whitaker, 40, before Monday’s raid. It is not yet clear whether another federal case will be opened on him.
Davis said the police department has been investigating Whitaker for the past few months based on citizen complaints.
Around 5 p.m. Monday, Davis said in a statement, the department executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on McWiggin Street after receiving several citizen complaints.
An investigation conducted by Detective Willie Murphy led to the drug raid where officers seized 149 grams of marijuana, $7,158 cash, a vacuum seal machine, a digital scale and other paraphernalia.
Whitaker was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
He received a $10,000 bond and February 1 court date.
