Bomb threats made to two Northampton County schools Tuesday appear to be tied to an Instagram account with the username of freewaldofreetim, posts associated with the matter and confirmation from the sheriff’s office show.

While the posts don’t mention Gaston Elementary School or Northampton County High School specifically, a post, which has since been removed, does mention Gaston Middle School. A screenshot of the post before deletion declares, “We bombed Gaston Middle for equilateral needs. Explosives will kill all students and faculty at this school. Date of terror Tuesday afternoon (at) 11a.m. Defined definite date and time. Prepare to die all of you.”
A post made, as of this report, 15 hours ago and still remains on Instagram declares five or six middle schools will be bombed today and a post from a day ago which remains up also makes deaths threats.
“We took it seriously,” Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith said today.
Patrols in the county are paying special attention to schools, with the Gaston Police Department helping in that area and the Conway Police Department helping in the area of Northampton County High School.
Smith said the sheriff’s office is trying to identify who freewaldofreetim might be.
At this point he said it’s not clear what the account name refers to. It is also not clear what a reference addressing Fastlane may be.
Smith said anyone with information on the identity of freewaldofreetim is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-534-2611 or Crimestoppers at 252-534-1110.
