Authorities continue to look for the absconder, 31-year-old Montreal Williams, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said in a statement.
He may be in the Scotland Neck area and also frequents Martin County.
The search for Williams, Tripp said, led to the discovery of the marijuana and drug paraphernalia, which was in plain view on a table at a residence on Edwards Fork Road in the Scotland Neck area.
A team of officers went to the residence shortly before 7 p.m. The team was made up of the Eastern North Carolina Violent Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service, the state Department of Public Safety, Scotland Neck Police Department and deputies of the sheriff’s office.
Williams was not located. The marijuana was, Tripp said, and the City County Drug Task Force was notified.
