Police seek info on shortchange artists

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying two people who reportedly scammed money by shortchanging a restaurant clerk.

The crime occurred in late June at an undisclosed restaurant on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway, which police declined to disclose today.
The men, according to a statement by Investigator Chris Babb, entered the restaurant and reportedly scammed the clerk out of an undisclosed amount of money by conducting multiple cash exchanges in rapid succession. It is a form larceny by use of trickery, typically known as shortchanging.
