The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday June 3, 2016

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Officer Natara Velazquez responded to a larceny call at Belk.

Loss prevention reported Deidre Sovita Flythe, 54, of Pendleton, took items from the store.

Velazquez arrested and charged Flythe, who received a $500 bond and June 17 court date, with larceny.

Saturday June 4, 2016

At approximately 2 a.m., Roanoke Rapids police received a call for assistance about a shots fired call in Gaston.

While on the way a vehicle description was given and located by Master Officer Adam Salmon.

The vehicle had a bullet hole in the rear.

Officers conducted an investigative traffic stop on the vehicle.

When officers got passenger Derryel Dezel Bell, 22, of Woodland, out, a gun was found in his possession.

Another passenger, Keshara Danyel Boone, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, had outstanding warrants from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located narcotics inside.

Bell was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of schedule VI. He received a $12,000 bond and June 15 court date.

Boone was charged with conspiracy and received a $3,000 bond and June 15 court date.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett, Sergeant Mike Moseley, Officer Dale Strickland, Sergeant Tommy Staton with the Gaston Police Department and Northampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., Strickland responded to a larceny and assault call at an East Ninth Street residence.

The victim reported Cornelius Langley came to the residence and an argument ensued.

Langley assaulted the victim and left.

Officer Jeffrey Mason located the vehicle on Highway 158, conducted a traffic stop and detained Langley for investigation.

Langley was arrested and charged with assault on a female, violation of a domestic protective order and driving while license revoked.

He was jailed without opportunity for bond and has a July 8 court date.

Moseley and Officer Alex Green assisted.

At approximately 7 p.m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Marshall Alvin Jones, 46, of Roanoke Rapids, took items and was walking toward Motel 6.

Mason located, arrested and charged Jones with larceny and possession of stolen goods. He received a $1,000 bond and July 8 court date.

Green assisted.

Sunday June 5, 2016

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Green conducted a traffic stop for a violation.

During the stop Green spoke with the driver, Michael Wayne Vincent, 48, of Littleton.

Green noticed an odor of alcohol coming from Vincent and learned his license was revoked.

Vincent was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, fictitious registration plate and expired registration. He received a $5,000 bond and a July 13 court date.

Baggett and Moseley assisted.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Master Officer Gerald Morris responded to a suspicious activity call at Family Dollar on Highway 158.

Morris located Hilliard Allen Jerrells, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, in the area.

During the investigation Morris learned Jerrells was the alleged suspect in larcenies at a nursery on Highway 158.

Morris arrested Jerrells on outstanding warrants for four counts of larceny and four counts possession of stolen goods.

He received a $2,000 bond and a June 14 court date.

Sergeant Mark Peck and Officer Ryan Cross assisted.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Velazquez responded to a fire call inside Citi Trends in the Great Falls Shopping Center.

Velazquez learned a man and woman, along with children, were in the store and the children were tearing up items.

One of the children set several pairs of pants on fire causing the store, which was evacuated, to fill with smoke.

Velazquez received a call the woman, Katelynn Elizabeth Corrsette, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, returned to the store.

Velazquez arrested and charged Corrsette, who received a $5,000 bond and July 1 court date, with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges and juvenile petitions could be filed.

Monday June 6, 2016

At approximately 8:30 p,m., Mason responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Martavius Javon Clements, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.

Mason arrested and charged Clements with larceny, possession of stolen goods and served him an outstanding order for arrest.

He received a $1,500 bond and July 8 court date.

Green assisted.

Tuesday June 7, 2016

At approximately 12:30 a.m., Mason responded to a suspicious activity call occurring inside a vehicle at Sheetz.

Mason spoke with Tymira Shaquita Gills, 28, and Felicia Catrice Collum, 30, both of Roanoke Rapids. Mason smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted and narcotics and paraphernalia were found.

Mason cited Gills and Collum for possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were released until their July 1 court dates.

Baggett and Moseley assisted.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., investigators Gorton Williams and Chris Babb arrested Antwan Devon Harvey, 22, of Littleton, on outstanding warrants for breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and injury to property.

These charges stem from an investigation by Williams into a report on June 4 by a victim whose residence was broken into and items taken.

Harvey received a $3,000 bond and August 17 court date.

At approximately 10:45 a.m., Master Officer Jonathan Benthall responded to a report of someone cutting vehicle tires in the parking lot of Halifax Regional.

The witness got a description and followed the person, later identified as Anthony Wayne Price, 62, of Roanoke Rapids, until the information could passed on to law enforcement.

Weldon police officers located Price at Rockfish Drive and Benthall arrested and charged him with injury to property.

Price received a $1,000 bond and July 22 court date.

Sergeant Terrence Tyler assisted.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., Benthall responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Alethia Faye Horne, 35, of Mullins, South Carolina, took items and returned some for a refund.

Benthall arrested and charged Horne with larceny, possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by a false pretense. She received a $1,000 bond and July 22 court date.

Thursday June 9, 2016

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Officer Jason Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Anthony Stephon Jackson, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.

Williams arrested and charged Jackson with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He was released to a responsible person and given a July 15 court date.

Officer Matt Hunsucker assisted.
