Task force hits Scotland Neck

City County Drug Task Force agents made arrests in Scotland Neck today, charging three people.

In the first search warrant service, based on an investigation by Agent C.L. Dixon, 7.41 grams of crack cocaine was seized along with a digital scale and currency.

The raid occurred around 8 a.m. at River Road with assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office Hazardous Entry and Arrest Team.

The arrest of Allen Duane Peterson, 35, of Scotland Neck, was based on a four-month investigation by Dixon, which was fueled by citizen complaints.

Dixon arrested Peterson for felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, maintain a dwelling place for a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Peterson received a $15,000 bond and a February 24 court date.

Shortly before 10:30 this morning, an investigation by Agent D. McKeel resulted in the arrest of a boyfriend and girlfriend at East Twelfth Street, this operation also assisted by HEAT and the uniformed patrol division of the sheriff's office as well as the task force's dog, Josh.

Captain A.M. Harris said a small amount of cocaine was found along with items of paraphernalia including plastic baggies.

Investigation by McKeel was based on citizen complaints and resulted in the arrests of Michaela Evans, 21, and Devonte Lloyd, 23.

Evans was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She received a $5,000 bond and February 24 court date.

McKeel arrested and charged Lloyd with resisting a public officer, assault on a government official and disorderly conduct.

Lloyd received a $2,000 bond and February 24 court date.
