Peggy Mitchell Webb passed peacefully on the morning of May 6, 2024.

She was born in Skippers, Va on April 13, 1928 the youngest of 11 children of Willie Lafette Mitchell and Rosa Lee Woodruff Mitchell.

Her love of God and family carried her through 96 years.

While working in her brother’s gristmill in Skippers, Va. Peggy met the love of her life Ernest Webb, who came to purchase a mill for a little store in Pleasant Hill.

They were married 1 ½ years later at Spring Methodist Church and celebrated 74 years of marriage.

They were the parents of Ernest Webb Jr. (Donna) and grandparents to Marty (Martina) and Shelly, their granddaughter in Heaven. Peggy taught all ages and classes at Spring Church. Church was always a big part of her life.

She was employed at Fannye’s Dress Shop for seven years and VEPCO for 18 years before she retired.

She was also very active in Senior Citizens in Roanoke Rapids for years.

Peggy enjoyed traveling with her brothers and sisters to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada and Caribbean Islands. She made many friends over the years and continued to meet with them to play cards, dominoes, bingo, and go out to eat.

Peggy lived a simple and grateful life and will be missed by her family and friends. She also will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews who in true Mitchell style loved to play cards and dominoes when they all gathered together.

While we will surely miss her, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the loving arms of her husband and surrounded by her family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Wrenn Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at Spring United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 9, 2024 starting at 2:00pm with Reverend Bob Clyde officiating.

Interment will immediately follow the service at Spring United Methodist Church Cemetery.
