David Lee Aycock, age 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 7, 2021.  Born in Halifax County, NC on January 10, 1940, he was the son of the late William Van “Buster” Aycock and Ophelia Taylor Aycock.  

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Percy Aycock, Van Aycock, Alton Aycock, Jack Aycock, Dan Aycock, and Wayne Aycock; his sisters, Aileen Aycock Lucas Hux and Susie Aycock Bunish; his brother-in-law, Samuel “Sammy” Manin Bass; and his very special friend, Lynwood Stancil.

David retired after 30 dedicated years with Burlington Industries.  

He was a member of Eden United Methodist Church.  David enjoyed hunting, riding around, and loved telling stories to his family and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.

David is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Sykes Aycock of Enfield; his sons, Patrick “Neil” Aycock (Penny) of Enfield and David “Dave” E. Aycock of Enfield; his daughter, Lisa Aycock of Enfield; his grandchildren, Christopher Aycock, Cooper Aycock, Kypton Aycock, and Caryn Aycock; his great-grandson, Joshua Keeter; his brother, Tommy Aycock (Cotrisha) of Elizabeth City; his sisters, Emily Aycock Bass of Dortches and Jane Aycock Dennis (Tony) of Rocky Mount; and his very special friend, Linda Stancil.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Eden United Methodist Church, 2471 Beaverdam Road, Enfield, NC  27823 with Pastor Steve Bradley officiating. A visitation with the family will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall until 5:00 PM.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the NC Heart & Vascular Heart Hospital in Raleigh, family and friends for their love, prayers, and support during this most difficult time.
