The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell M. Harris:
Deputies responded to an address in the 400 block of Bowers Road on Saturday shortly after 4 a.m. upon receiving a report a woman had been stabbed.
Clarence McArthur Copeland, 53, of Littleton got into an argument with the woman and when she attempted to leave she was stabbed in the lower stomach.
Copeland left the scene but returned shortly after deputies arrived.
Deputy J. Morales arrested and charged Copeland with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflict serious injury, communicating threats, and misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence.
Copeland remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond and has a Tuesday district court date.
The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and was released from medical care.

Cocaine charge
On Saturday shortly after 1 a.m. Deputy J. Velez and Corporal K. Taylor noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road in the 18000 block of Highway 125.
The vehicle had a flat tire and the deputies spoke with Charquon Lyndre Boone, 28, of Roanoke Rapids and two other occupants. A cut straw was seen in plain view which led to further investigation.
During the investigation, a search was conducted and a user amount of cocaine was found.
Velez arrested and charged Boone with possession of cocaine. He received a $5,000 bond and January 23 district court date.
Search warrant
The Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force with assistance from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation and patrol divisions executed a search warrant on Wednesday at an Elm Street address in Weldon.
The focus of the search warrant was the sale of illegal drugs by Ronnie Washington.
Agents searched the property, located and seized several items of drug paraphernalia, marijuana, hydrocodone pills, a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun and $12,650.
Agents performed a criminal history check of Washington and confirmed that he is a convicted felon therefore making it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
Washington was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by convicted felon, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule II controlled substance, maintain a dwelling for a controlled substance, simple possession of schedule VI, simple possession of schedule II, possess marijuana paraphernalia and possess drug paraphernalia.
Washington was confined to the detention center without the opportunity for bond and has a December 11 district court date.
He was out on bond for multiple pending charges — a 2018 murder, a 2020 trafficking case, 2020 felony flee to elude, two counts in 2021 for statutory rape of a child, 2024 assault on a female and 2024 driving while impaired.
