Halifax Electric Membership Corporation has awarded five Bright Ideas education grants totaling $5,919 to Littleton Academy teachers for innovative classroom projects.
Julia Allsbrook, director of Member Services & Community Engagement at HEMC, presented the grant awards to teachers on Tuesday.
The funded projects range from outdoor learning spaces to musical education initiatives.
"We're deeply grateful to Halifax EMC for their continued investment in our students' education," said Principal Renee Mizelle. "These grants will help our teachers create engaging learning experiences that go beyond traditional classroom instruction, opening new doors of opportunity for our students."
The 2024 Bright Ideas grant recipients from Littleton Academy are:
Melinda Rogerson: Down to Earth: Laying the Groundwork for Future Scientists — $259
Haley Curley: Establishing an Innovative Outdoor Classroom — $1,500
Kelly Allen: Book-o-lympics — $1,750
Raleigh Tant: Reading Buddies — $1,450
Diane Collin: Happy Jammin' Around the World — $960
These grants are part of Halifax EMC's Bright Ideas program, which has provided over $192,000 to fund 161 projects benefiting more than 22,000 students over 29 years.
