The North Carolina School Public Relations Association has honored Halifax County Schools for excellence in communications. 

HCS earned a total of three Blue Ribbon Awards for outstanding and effective communication. NCSPRA presented the awards during a ceremony held in High Point on February 9.

Halifax County Schools received a Gold level award in Publications and Special Events and Programs for its 2017-2023 Strategic Plan Book, Creme De La Creme: Academic Evening of Excellence, and one Bronze level in Photography.

"Receiving these Blue Ribbon Awards is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our communications team at Halifax County Schools,” said Superintendent Eric Cunningham. “Effective communication is essential in fostering strong relationships within our community and supporting student success."

Darian Pressley, public information officer of Halifax County Schools, said, "We are thrilled to receive these awards, which reflect our commitment to excellence in communication. From our strategic planning publications to special events and photography, we strive to engage and inform our stakeholders effectively.”

Valerie Newton, NCSPRA president and director of communication and family engagement for Sampson County Schools, said the work of the award winners exemplifies the high standard of the North Carolina School Public Relations Association and the outstanding work of its members. “We are extremely proud of the work being done by NCSPRA members across the state, and the Blue Ribbon Award winners have demonstrated excellence in all facets of communication.”

She said, “Their expertise and professionalism in the field of communications highlight the superior work being done by North Carolina public schools, and their accomplishments deserve recognition. I congratulate all of our winners for their outstanding work to support students and teachers and promote public education.”

The Georgia School Public Relations Association judged NCSPRA’s 2023 Blue Ribbon entries.
