Fybe, a broadband service provider and a subsidiary of Roanoke Cooperative, has completed its construction project in the town of Halifax, which expands services with fiber internet to over 400 homes and businesses in the community.

“We are thrilled to announce the completion of our construction project in the town of Halifax,” said Bo Coughlin, COO. “With high-speed fiber internet now available, we are one step closer to achieving our vision of bringing the world to rural North Carolina. Fybe believes that internet access should be a right, not a privilege and is dedicated to empowering communities with the tools they need to thrive.”

Fybe said, “This significant investment in the local community brings fiber-to-the-home technology, which is less susceptible to weather-related outages and other interference that above-ground traditional cables experience.”

The company said these connections can send data as fast as around 70 percent of the speed of light and provide broadband connections at speeds of up to 1 Gbps.

“Having access to reliable, high-speed internet at a variety of price points gives residents and businesses the tools they need to succeed in the modern world,” the company said. “With work, school, telehealth, and more requiring reliable internet services, Fybe’s team is dedicated to positioning locals for success in connectivity.”
