The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Bobby Martin:

On Wednesday around 10 officers conducted a traffic checkpoint on Becker Drive near Patch Rubber Road and observed a passenger toss a package from a vehicle. They also observed a toddler was sitting between the two male occupants and was not in a car seat.

The package thrown from the vehicle consisted of individual bags of marijuana in a larger bag.The passenger was identified as 31-year-old Ryan Garner, who was charged with felony possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Brandon Clements, was cited for failing to secure a child in a car seat.

Garner received a $2,000 bond and April 27 court date.

There was no information on Clements’s court date.

Larceny

On February 10  around 3 p.m,, officers received a call about a larceny from a Premier Boulevard business.
