A single-vehicle motorcycle crash claimed the life of a Florida man Thursday evening.

Trooper T.J. Blount of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said William Garwood, 61, was traveling on Interstate 95 between the 164 and 165 mile markers when he traveled off the roadway to the right, struck a ditch and overturned. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred around 11 p.m. between Halifax and Enfield.

An autopsy report is pending, Blount said.
