A truck stolen from the Old Farm Road area Wednesday night was used to pull down an Emporia ATM, according to Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin.

Martin said the FBI is investigating the case as an undisclosed amount of money was taken after the machine was pulled down by use of chains attached to the truck and the ATM. Virginia authorities located the truck still chained to the ATM.

Roanoke Rapids police took the report of a white F-250 being broken into and the ignition manipulated to start it. Officers took the report around 8:30 p.m.

Martin said the FBI has persons of interest in the case but the names have not been shared as of this report. Roanoke Rapids investigators do not believe the suspects are local.

Martin said Virginia authorities observed notable damage to different areas of the truck.
