A Roanoke Rapids woman died following a single-vehicle crash off Becker Drive Extension this morning.
Trooper D.L. Edwards of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said an autopsy is pending to determine the cause of the death.
Concrete Services of Weldon notified authorities of a crash at its property around 7:05, Edwards said.
Investigation, which began shortly before 7:30 a.m., determined Elizabeth Mills, 51, was headed toward Roanoke Rapids when she ran off the road straight ahead. Her vehicle struck a fence at the concrete company and then continued another 200 feet before it struck a concrete building pad.
Mills died at the scene.
Edwards estimated Mills was driving her vehicle at around 35 miles per hour when the crash occurred.
Edwards listed the contributing factor as exceeding the safe speed for the curve coming across the railroad tracks near the concrete business.
